Why we're building Njokey
Remote work made 'where is this person working from?' a legal question. Most companies still answer it with a spreadsheet and hope.

- Principle
- Consent first, evidence always
- Certifications
- None claimed until audited
- Data
- Work moments, not lives
When teams went remote, employment law, tax residency, export controls and data sovereignty rules didn't. The gap between where companies think their people work and where they actually work has become a real source of legal and financial exposure — and the existing answers are either invasive employee surveillance or self-reported spreadsheets that nobody trusts.
Njokey is our attempt at a third option: verify location only at moments that matter for compliance — a login, an access to sensitive systems — with the employee's knowledge and consent, and give the company a signed, auditable answer without building a tracking apparatus.
"Prove where work happens without surveilling the people doing it."
"A world where distributed work is provable, compliant and private by default."
Work has already left the office; the rules that govern it haven't caught up, and the tools that enforce them were built for a world of badges and desks. We think the next decade of work needs a trust layer for place — one that treats the employee as a participant, not a target.
That's why every Njokey product — from Verify to the Anchor V1 key to Compass — runs on the same principle: consent first, evidence always.
What we hold ourselves to
Honesty before polish
No certification badges we haven't earned, no fake customer logos, sample data always labelled. If a page on this site says it, we can defend it.
Privacy is the product
We verify work moments, not lives. Every check is visible to the person it concerns — a location product that employees can read, audit and trust.
Evidence over claims
Compliance is proven, not asserted. Everything we verify is signed, timestamped and exportable — built for the auditor before the audit exists.
Simple beats clever
One question — are they where they should be? — answered plainly. Simple ideas are quicker to grasp, and quicker to trust.
- Njokey is an early-access product. We are onboarding design partners, not running at general availability.
- We do not yet hold SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certifications, and we won't claim them until an independent auditor has issued them. Our security documentation and data processing agreement are available to prospective customers on request.
- Product visuals on this site use sample data — they illustrate the product experience, not real customers or employees.
- Anchor V1, our hardware key, is in development and not yet shipping — its page describes design intent, not a product you can buy today.
